Bongo player bookings through Party Central start from £350. The final price depends on availability, your exact requirements, time on site and location, and we quote each booking individually. The number of sets, whether you book with a DJ or sax player, and travel make the most difference.
Key takeaways
- Set length and pairing with a DJ or sax player drive most of the price.
- Bongos add live energy at a volume most venues are happy with.
- They suit house, disco, Latin and chart sets at weddings and parties.
What does a bongo player do at an event?
A bongo player performs live percussion over your DJ's set. Using bongos, congas, timbales or a mix, they add rhythm and flair to house, disco, Latin, Afrobeat and chart tracks.
The look is part of the appeal. Many percussionists use LED lit setups and perform right beside the DJ booth, so guests have something to watch as well as dance to.
What affects the price of bongo players?
A bongo booking is fairly simple, but a few choices change the quote.
- Number and length of live sets.
- Whether the DJ is booked as part of the same package.
- Adding a sax player or vocalist for a mini live show.
- LED or light up percussion setups.
- Travel, location and date.
What is included in a typical package?
Most packages include one or more live sets during the peak dancing hours, a professional percussion setup and coordination with your DJ. The player arrives in smart or themed outfits to match the event.
All Party Central partners are vetted and hold public liability insurance, and you have one point of contact from enquiry to event.
Tip from our team: A drinks reception set with bongos over deep house is a lovely way to warm up a room before the dance floor opens.

Bongos, live drummer or dhol: which is better value?
Bongos are lighter, quicker to set up and easier on venue sound limits than a full drum kit. They are ideal for house and Latin influenced sets, rooftop bars and smaller rooms.
A live drummer with DJ gives more punch for big dance floors. For South Asian weddings, dhol players still bring the Bhangra energy that bongos cannot match, and many couples book both for different parts of the night.
What does the venue need to provide?
Bongo players need a small space beside the DJ booth and, if the setup is amplified or lit, access to power. Load-in is usually quick, but tell us about stairs or long walks from parking.
For outdoor events, plan cover for the performer and equipment. A sudden shower on a terrace in Brighton or a rooftop in London can end a set quickly.
Because the setup is compact, bongo players are a good option for venues with limited stage space, such as restaurants, rooftop bars and private dining rooms.
How do you get the best value?
Put the live sets where the energy matters: the drinks reception, the opening of the dance floor and the last hour. Book the percussionist with a DJ who knows how to leave space for live playing.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a bongo player for a wedding?
Bongo player bookings through Party Central start from £350. The exact price depends on availability, set length, time on site and location. We quote each booking individually and quotes are free.
How long does a bongo player perform?
Most bookings include one or more live sets during peak dancing time or the drinks reception. We agree timings with you and your DJ in advance. A drinks reception set is also a popular addition.
Can a bongo player work with any DJ?
Usually, yes, though it works best when the DJ is used to live percussion. We can pair you with a DJ and percussionist who already work together.
Are bongo players quieter than drummers?
Generally, yes. Bongos and congas are easier to keep within venue sound limits than a full acoustic drum kit. That makes them a good choice for hotels and restaurants with strict rules.
