Tabla player bookings through Party Central start from £550. Exact pricing depends on availability, your exact requirements, time on site and location, and we quote each booking individually. Whether the tabla plays solo, as part of a duo with sitar or flute, or alongside your DJ makes the biggest difference.
Key takeaways
- Solo, duo or trio format is the biggest factor in price.
- Tabla suits ceremonies, drinks receptions and mehndi nights.
- Sound needs are small, but a quiet space and a low stage help.
What does a tabla player bring to an event?
The tabla is a pair of hand drums at the heart of Indian classical music. In skilled hands it can be delicate and meditative or fast and dazzling, which makes it one of the most versatile instruments you can book.
At weddings, tabla adds a sense of occasion to ceremonies and receptions without overpowering conversation. It also works beautifully in fusion, played over a DJ's tracks or with a sitar, violin or flute.
What affects the price of tabla players?
Tabla bookings are simple to shape once you know what you want the music to do. These are the factors that change the quote.
- Format: solo tabla, tabla and sitar, or a small classical trio.
- Number and length of sets.
- Whether the player needs to work with your DJ on fusion tracks.
- Sound equipment for larger rooms or outdoor ceremonies.
- Travel, location and date.
What is included in a typical tabla package?
A typical booking covers one or two sets at key moments, such as guest arrival, the ceremony or the drinks reception. The player arrives in traditional dress, sets up on a low platform or rug, and brings their own instruments.
For larger rooms, a small sound system or microphones may be included so every guest can hear. All partners are vetted by our team and hold public liability insurance.
Tip from our team: If your budget allows one extra musician, pair tabla with sitar or flute. The melody makes the performance feel complete and far more memorable than tabla alone.

Is a tabla player worth it for a wedding?
For couples who want a cultural, elegant feel to part of the day, yes. It suits Hindu and Sikh ceremonies, mehndi nights, drinks receptions and heritage venues where a DJ would feel out of place early in the day.
If you want high energy and volume, tabla is the wrong choice for that slot. Book dhol or percussion for the entrance, and keep tabla for calmer moments.
What should you budget for alongside tabla?
Think about the space. Tabla is played seated, so a small raised platform, a rug and good lighting help guests see the performance. Outdoor ceremonies need shade and a plan for rain, because the drum skins are sensitive to damp.
If you are also booking a mandap or stage, ask for a spot close by so the music connects with the ceremony. Our team can arrange both through one point of contact.
How do you get the best value?
Group the sets around one part of the day, such as ceremony and drinks, so the player is not waiting for hours. Share your running order and venue with the enquiry to get an exact quote first time.
Party Central covers the whole UK, including London, Leicester, Birmingham and Manchester, and destination weddings abroad.
