About Alaap
Alaap were formed in Southall, West London, in 1977, with Channi Singh as lead singer, producer and director. Their 1979 album Teri Chunni De Sitare is recognised as the first album recorded by a British bhangra group, and the BBC has described them as the most prolific bhangra band. By mixing western instruments with Punjabi folk, they helped create the UK bhangra sound.
Channi Singh was born in Malerkotla, Punjab, and was appointed OBE in 2012 for services to bhangra music, charity and the community in Hounslow. He has worked as a music director on Bollywood films including Yalgaar and Janasheen, and Alaap have played venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and Madison Square Garden. In 2012 Channi and his daughter Mona Singh performed at 10 Downing Street.
Alaap bring history and a live band sound. They are perfect for families who want the classics their parents danced to, played by the people who made them.

His customer service is excellent, he has been very patient and helpful with finding a package best suited for my requirements even there were few change and chop about timing & Dates. Will come back and leave a review after the event, but Sanj has been very active in helping with the booking, thank you
