About Ammy Virk
Ammy Virk grew up in Lohar Majra village near Nabha in Patiala district and began releasing music in 2011. His breakthrough came with Ikk Pal, a song that spread quickly online and made him one of the most talked about new voices in Punjab. His album Jattizm won Album of the Year at the PTC Punjabi Music Awards in 2013.
He moved into acting with Angrej in 2015 and went on to star in Nikka Zaildar, Qismat and many more Punjabi hits, later appearing in Bollywood films such as Bhuj: The Pride of India and Bad Newz. His voice is soft, sincere and instantly recognisable, which is why songs like Qismat and Taara are still requested at weddings years after release.
At a live event Ammy brings a relaxed, likeable presence. He moves easily between emotional ballads that suit a first dance or a quieter moment and upbeat Punjabi numbers that get families on the floor. Guests who know him from the films tend to sing along to every word.
