What is a contortion act?

Contortionists are performers with extreme flexibility and strength who fold, bend and balance in ways that look impossible. Acts range from slow, sculptural poses on a plinth to full choreographed routines and squeezing in and out of small boxes or props.

Contortion works as ambient entertainment during a drinks reception, as a short stage spot between courses, or combined with props like a giant glass. It is a core part of any circus night and a strong choice for launches that need a talking point.

Where it works best

Drinks receptions
Slow, sculptural poses on a plinth.
Between courses
A short stage spot at a gala dinner.
Circus themes
A classic big-top act.
Launches
Emerging from a box or prop for a reveal.
Christmas parties
A showpiece moment that gets people talking.
Prop acts
Contortion inside a giant glass or frame.

Tips from our team

1
Provide a plinth or riser
A raised, stable platform lets everyone see the act and keeps the performer safe.
2
Allow warm-up time
Contortionists need a warm private space to warm up before each set.
3
Pair with good lighting
A spotlight on a slow contortion routine makes it far more dramatic.

Frequently asked questions

How much do contortionists cost in Lincoln?

Every booking is quoted individually, because the price of contortionists depends on availability, your date, location and travel, how long you need them and your exact requirements. Send us your date and venue and we will come back with clear options. Quotes are free with no obligation.

Is contortion suitable for a corporate event?

Yes. It is an acrobatic skill, and we brief the performer on costume and tone for your audience.

How much space does a contortionist need?

Very little. A stable plinth or small clear area is usually enough, plus a warm space backstage.

Can a contortionist work with our props?

Often, yes. Boxes, frames and giant glasses all work. Tell us the idea and we will check it with the performer.

Which venues near Lincoln can hold a large Asian wedding?

On our list, Lincolnshire Events Centre (up to 1200 guests) can take 400 or more guests. Tell us your venue and numbers and we will plan contortionists around the space.

Do venues around Lincoln have sound limits for dhol or music?

Many hotels and country houses set a sound limit or an end time, and some ask for unplugged dhol indoors. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check its rules before we confirm anything.

Which postcodes around Lincoln do you cover?

All of LN1, LN2, LN5 and LN6, including North Hykeham, Skellingthorpe, North Kesteven, Witham St Hughs, Welton and Nettleham, plus the rest of Lincolnshire and nearby North Kesteven, Newark-on-Trent, New Ollerton and Gainsborough.

What time will the contortionists arrive, and how will they look?

They arrive smartly dressed and on time, usually 30 to 45 minutes before the performance, so they are ready the moment you need them. We share arrival times and a contact number with you before the day.

Are your contortionists vetted and insured?

Yes. Every partner is vetted by our team before they are listed. They hold public liability insurance and certificates, carry out risk assessments, and any electrical equipment they bring is PAT tested. Venues often ask for these documents and we can supply them.

How far in advance should I book contortionists?

For weddings and summer weekends, book as early as you can, ideally several months ahead, as the best dates go first. We can often help at short notice too, so it is always worth asking.

Do you cover Lincoln and the rest of Lincolnshire?

Yes. We book contortionists in Lincoln, across Lincolnshire and the whole of East Midlands, for venues, homes and outdoor events.
