Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire a sitar player in Durham?

Is a sitar player suitable for a wedding ceremony?

Yes. Sitar gives ceremonies, mehndis and drinks receptions a calm, traditional atmosphere.

What music can a sitar player perform?

Classical ragas, Bollywood melodies and modern covers. Tell us your favourites and we will confirm what can be played.

Can a sitar player perform with tabla?

Yes. Sitar and tabla together is a classic pairing, and we can book them as a duo.

Which venues near Durham can hold a large Asian wedding?

On our list, Rainton Meadows Arena (up to 1500 guests) can take 400 or more guests. Tell us your venue and numbers and we will plan sitar players around the space.

Do venues around Durham have sound limits for dhol or music?

Many hotels and country houses set a sound limit or an end time, and some ask for unplugged dhol indoors. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we will check its rules before we confirm anything.

Which postcodes around Durham do you cover?

All of DH1, DH2, DH6 and DH7, including High Shincliffe, Sacriston, Brandon, County Durham, Lanchester and Esh Winning, plus the rest of County Durham and nearby Sunderland, Peterlee, Bishop Auckland and Gateshead.

What time will the sitar players arrive, and how will they look?

They arrive smartly dressed and on time, usually 30 to 45 minutes before the performance, so they are ready the moment you need them. We share arrival times and a contact number with you before the day.

Are your sitar players vetted and insured?

Yes. Every partner is vetted by our team before they are listed. They hold public liability insurance and certificates, carry out risk assessments, and any electrical equipment they bring is PAT tested. Venues often ask for these documents and we can supply them.

How far in advance should I book sitar players?

For weddings and summer weekends, book as early as you can, ideally several months ahead, as the best dates go first. We can often help at short notice too, so it is always worth asking.

Do you cover Durham and the rest of County Durham?

Yes. We book sitar players in Durham, across County Durham and the whole of North East, for venues, homes and outdoor events.
